During October and the first few days of November we had a work team visit from our home church in Harrogate - Mayfield Community Church. They came out to Ecuador to work on two water projects in the communities of Carabuela and Lupaxi Chico. Mornings were spent mixing cement and either digging or filling in trenches where water pipes had been laid. Afternoons were filled with activity as the team worked with the young people, playing games, acting out Bible stories and doing crafts. A fantastic time was had by all and as is often the case, many team members went back feeling like they had received even more than they had given! Martin and Ruth have been married for 11 years and have two children. Ben is seven years old and wants to be a fireman when he grows up. Lottie is five and wants to be a princess with a motorbike when she is older! We are from Harrogate in North Yorkshire (England) and are working for a Christian organisation called HCJB Global. We live and work in Ecuador in South America. Martin is Director of HCJB's community development programme in Latin America. Ruth is kept busy by the kids at home and is also assisting with community development on a part time basis and teaching from time to time at the Alliance Academy in Quito. |

Water - the very foundation of life. It is a gift from God that we take for granted in the western world. Yet for many in the less developed countries clean, safe drinking water is beyond their grasp. Click here to read more about the water crisis. The team consists of Christian engineers and health professionals who are committed to bringing physical and spiritual health improvements to those around them, specifically in rural and marginal urban areas of Ecuador.
